Where is Chiron in Your Astrological Chart?
Do you know where Chiron is in your chart? You might want to look it up to find out. It is not a true planet, but it can still have a profound effect on your life.
I should know, since it lands smack dab on my Ascendant! That means it has a powerful impact on my personality and the way other people perceive who I am.
Here’s what Cafeastrology.com says about that: Possibly, there were restrictions in early childhood that will have had the effect on you of either retreating into yourself or having to fight to be noticed.
Well, yeah! That’s for sure, especially in a family of ten kids.
From spiritualgalaxy.com: Your lack of self-worth and self-love are the wounds that you need to heal in this lifetime.
Ugh! That’s no fun!
But it hits the nail right on the head. It goes on to say: The way to heal is through self-discovery and empowering others to embrace their own uniqueness.
Well, I certainly aim to do that.
Chiron the Wounded Healer
Chiron is known as the “wounded healer” in astrology. It represents our deepest wounds and the healing that can come from them. Wherever it lands in your chart will show you where your own deepest wounds are hiding – AND how to heal them.
For those of us who have Chiron on the ascendant or even in the first house, it highlights wounds related to our sense of self and the face we present to the world – the first impression we make on others.
So when these two forces collide, you can imagine the kind of cosmic chaos can ensue. How about feeling pretty much invisible most of the time? Or feeling unworthy of all the best things in life?
My Personal Experience with How Chiron Shaped My Life
For me, having Chiron on the ascendant meant that I was constantly struggling to define my identity. For decades, I never felt like I truly knew who I was or what I wanted out of life. But at the same time, I wanted to feel confident and put-together when interacting with others.
It was a real challenge in my social life. In fact, it still is when I try to interact with mainstream muggles.
You see, Chiron on the ascendant can make you a magnet for people with their own wounds and issues. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve found myself in the role of therapist or advice-giver to my friends. But don’t get me wrong, I love helping people. It’s just that sometimes it feels like I attract these kinds of relationships like moths to a flame.
Imagine how much fun that was when I started dating! Let’s just say that my romantic relationships were… interesting. I was always attracted to people who had their own emotional baggage and we would end up in this endless cycle of triggering each other’s wounds. Needless to say, those relationships eventually burned out.
Chiron in the 12th House
On top of having a Chiron ascendant, Chiron is just slightly, like one degree, into my 12th house. Here’s what an astrobutterfly.com email post said about that:
Chiron in the 12th house is “The Exiled”. People with Chiron in your 12th house carry a deep wound that they find difficult to trace. This wound has likely been inflicted during the pre-birth, gestation phase, or it may have been passed down from their ancestors through genetic memory.
Because a 12th house wounding event is difficult to recall, people with this Chiron placement go to great lengths to find themselves and get to the root of their suffering. They may try multiple healing approaches, or travel far and away across long distances, even continents, in their attempt to find themselves and heal their wound.
Well, that about sums it up for me! It has been a lifelong journey – and my life is getting pretty long right about now.
Again from from spiritualgalaxy.com:
Sense of self and feeling of completeness comes from your identification with the Divine. As someone with Chiron placed in 12th House, spirituality shapes your identity through isolation and imagination. Separation from the Source may lead to existential pain. [ ]
As someone with Chiron that lies in Twelfth House, you heal through empathy and your profound connection to spirituality.
In the end, having Chiron on the ascendant has been a wild ride. It’s forced me to confront some of my deepest insecurities and face my own wounds head-on. And while it hasn’t always been easy, I wouldn’t change it for the world.
It’s All Worth the Struggle
At the end of the day, my wounds have made me who I am, and through it all, I’ve learned how to be happy. Plus, it makes for some great cocktail party conversation. “Oh, Chiron on the ascendant? Let me tell you…”
Again from Cafeastrology.com: You probably have psychic, empathic and healing abilities. Don’t keep shutting yourself off from people – they need your unique abilities. Help others by learning to use these ‘gifts’ – it will give great, personal benefit but you will need to be emotionally strong and mature.
I guess I figured that part out on my own. Now I lead people on shamanic journeys to connect with their own spiritual truths. It is not only healing for them, it is healing for me. That’s how I heal my wounded healer.
You have a wounded healer too. Finding where it hides and doing the work to heal might be the biggest positive thing you could ever do for yourself. I wish you all the best on your journey of discovery.
